The
New South Wales Municipalities Act of 1858 was the beginning of
numerous hectic public meetings through New South Wales, which resulted in the
signing of Local Government Petitions for or against the formation of Local
Government Municipalities.
The Local Government Petitioners Database records over 47,000 persons who signed one of the 315 petitions or counter petitions during the period 1858 to 1883, giving details of:
o Name of petitioner
o Place of residence
o Occupation
o Petition signed.

AU$25 for each search, History Services NSW will search the Local Government
Petitioners Database for a nominated person. You will receive a Result of Search by email in the following format which summarises all the information held for all persons with that name. |
