Public Buildings and Works undertaken during the Administration of Governor Lachlan Macquarie [1 JANUARY 1810 TO 30 NOVEMBER 1821]

AT  CASTLE HILL

1. The old Government Barn, new roofed and repaired and converted into a Lunatic
Asylum being properly fitted up as such for the accommodation of 30 patients with
a court for the lunatics to walk in, surrounded by a Stockade.
  
2. A weather boarded House for the residence of the Superintendant and his family
with a good enclosed garden.
  
Comment: Castle Hill is situated seven miles from Parramatta.
